Napoleon Hill’s “Mastermind Principle” manifested through a collaborative Mastermind Group. This principle is the foundation of my practice as a collaborator and social entrepreneur, and further reinforces the idea that success is an achievement that is not done solo. It’s a journey to which you meet people along the way that influence you, and in turn you will influence/inspire others.

STUDIOLAB
A Conversation about creative process with Saidiya Hartman, Ralph Lemon and Geo Wyeth.
Presented by MAPP International Productions and Studio Museum in Harlem
Date: Friday, May 16th 6:30PMLocation: The Studio Museum in Harlem: 144 W 125th St
Join us at MAPP International for a special StudioLab with literary and cultural critic Saidiya Hartman, artists Ralph Lemon and Geo Wyeth, currently exhibiting work in the When the Stars Begin to Fall: Imagination and the American South exhibition. This program will accompany the mounted exhibition which queries the category of “outsider” art in relation to contemporary art and black life.
Organized in collaboration with MAPP International Productions & Studio Museum, Studio Lab is a participatory evening in which each of the three presenters are invited to share their work in an open format with audience members. We encourage audience members to respond and share their process and thoughts in return with panelists. This interactive engagement will investigate the unique process behind each artists’ creation as it applies to the themes of the exhibition. From moments of inspiration, to the frustrating times of creative block, to ways in which ideas of the American South (past, present and future) feed creativity, the artists will unlock the secrets of what fuels their artistic process.

This event was curated by: Rasu Jilani, Thomas Lax and Edwin Ramoran

SPOTLIGHT: KEHINDE WILEY

American Artist, Kehinde Wiley's work is a colorful blend of traditional and contemporary roots seen in his trademark over sized portraits where young men of color, posed in their street clothes are fixed into grandiose backgrounds that suit them as if they were royalty. Initially his portraits were based on the photographs of young men in Harlem, now he has firmly situated himself as the painter known to travel to urban places in Israel, Africa, Brazil and India to find his next subject…

Come join us on hahamag.com & Twitter to finish the conversation and learn some fun facts about Wiley.

The Founding Fathers is a documentary on the musical era before Grand Master Flash and Kool Herc with a focus on what was happening in Brooklyn and Queens prior to the Bronx. It has a great soundtrack, is very informative, interesting and nostalgic.
Great brunch and convo amongst creators, @bamuthi, the #rbgb cast and his family.

Eggs, chicken, sushi, coffee and economic equity for artists were on the menu. What are viable ways artists can sustain themselves by reaping the long term benefits of the commodification of their art? The conversation continues.. #DC #art #artist (at The Hamilton)
